EvrardBanes opens the Controls Lab, led by Schedule Studio

A full CPM scheduling engine and a set of live controls tools, free in the browser. Build a network, break it, and see what your forecast is really telling you.

EvrardBanes has opened the Controls Lab, a free set of project controls tools that run entirely in the browser. At its center is Schedule Studio, a full critical path method scheduling engine. Around it sit the instruments we use every week on live projects, rebuilt so any owner, developer or contractor can use them on their own numbers.

Why we built it

Most people who approve a schedule have never watched one calculate. They see a Gantt chart and a finish date, and they are asked to trust both. That gap is where bad forecasts hide. We wanted a place where an executive could add an activity, tie the logic, slip a task by ten days and watch exactly what happens to the finish. Once you have seen float disappear on screen, you read the next monthly update differently.

What is inside

  • Schedule Studio. Build a network of activities and relationships, set durations and a data date, and run a forward and backward pass. Total float, the critical path and the finish date are calculated, not drawn.
  • Schedule Health Check. Score a schedule against checks modeled on the DCMA 14-point assessment: open ends, hard constraints, high float, negative float and more.
  • Delay Impact Simulator. Slip any activity and watch the finish date move, or not move, depending on where it sits against the critical path.
  • Finish-Date Confidence. Run thousands of possible futures and read the P50 and P80 dates instead of a single hopeful one.
  • Earned Value Pulse, Cost of Delay and Recovery tools. Read SPI and CPI in plain English, price one late day, and test which recovery options actually buy time.

What it is not

The Lab is a learning and testing environment. It is not a schedule review and it does not replace one. Nothing you enter is stored on our servers. When a result surprises you, that is the moment to bring the native XER or MPP file to a person who can read the whole network.

We measure what matters to keep your project on track. The Lab lets you see how that measurement works before you ever call us.
