The challenge

What was at stake.

The runway could only close for six hours a night. Every night had to end with a safe, open runway. Paving, lighting and markings all fought for the same short windows, and one long night meant delayed flights.

Our approach

How we controlled it.

What our schedulers and cost engineers did on this project.

01

Nights as shifts

Each closure was planned as its own short schedule, with set-up, work, inspection and reopening down to the quarter hour.

02

Production tracked

Paving and lighting production was measured every night and compared with the plan by morning.

03

Weather risk

Weather and production risk was modeled to show the owner how many spare nights the plan really had.

04

Daily reporting

A short daily report went to airport operations, so the next closure was agreed by noon.

Every night had a deadline the whole airport could see. We planned each one as if it were the only night that mattered.
