What was at stake.
Behavioral health rooms are full of details that cannot be rushed: ligature-resistant hardware, secure courtyards, anti-barricade doors. The contractor schedule treated them as finishes in the last ninety days. Half of the hardware had lead times longer than that.
How we controlled it.
What our schedulers and cost engineers did on this project.
Safety items as logic
Every ligature-resistant fixture, door and glazing package became a procurement chain in P6, tied to the rooms it served.
Mock-up room first
A full mock-up room was scheduled and approved months ahead, so clinical review never sat on the critical path.
Two-week updates
Updates every two weeks on a fixed data date, with float trends by unit so leadership could see which wing was drifting.
State survey planned
Licensing inspections, staff training and the first admission were sequenced as one chain ending at the opening night.
The result.
The hardware in a behavioral health room protects lives. We put every piece of it on the critical path so none of it could arrive late.
