What was at stake.
The old data room sat in a hospital basement under a cooling tower. Every clinic, pharmacy and emergency room in the region depended on it. The cutover plan was a slide deck, not a schedule, and nobody could say what would happen if the weekend ran long.
How we controlled it.
What our schedulers and cost engineers did on this project.
Facility and IT as one
We joined the building schedule with the IT migration plan, so racks, power, cooling and network were ready in the right order.
Commissioning by level
Level one to five commissioning ended with full integrated systems testing at design load before any server moved.
Cutover script
The weekend was scripted minute by minute with go and no-go points, rollback steps and named owners for every step.
Live tracking
A live cutover dashboard showed progress against the script, so leaders could decide on facts at every gate.
The result.
A data center is only finished when the load is on it. We scheduled to the moment the first chart opened from the new room.
