What was at stake.
The trains could not be accepted without a yard, a shop, power and signal testing. The facility schedule did not include the systems testing, and vehicle deliveries were already set.
How we controlled it.
What our schedulers and cost engineers did on this project.
Systems testing added
Traction power, signals and shop equipment testing were added as real chains ending at vehicle acceptance.
Vehicle deliveries tracked
Each train delivery was a milestone, and the yard track it needed was scheduled in front of it.
CM/GC pricing
We checked each CM/GC work package price against the estimate before the owner agreed to it.
Monthly updates
Monthly updates gave the transit board one clear page on schedule and cost.
The result.
The trains were already built. Our job was to make sure they had somewhere to go.
